Goodbye Dominican Republic, hello Nicaragua! I am thankful that my entire squad arrived safely at our third and final country on this unique adventure with God.

The Dominican Republic (DR) has a special place in my heart, and leaving was bittersweet. I grew to know and love the culture and people of that precious country. Since I have Haitian blood running through my veins, being surrounded by Haitians 24/7 felt just like home. Leaving was like saying goodbye to my family again, which was fairly painful. I will always cherish the people and moments that made for sweet memories there.

I will miss all the translators, the kitchen staff, the hosts, and all the people that I met during Strategic Ministry Time (SMT) and especially the family from my last blog. I want to send a special shout-out to them for showing me what hospitality with open arms really looks like. Their actions represented the way the Father is open-armed and hospitable to all of us as His children. One of my favorite things about that family was the fact that every time we visited they always had Christian music blasting in their language.

As I hold the DR in my heart, I am looking forward to my time here in Nicaragua for multiple reasons:

  1. I am excited to see what the Lord has for me and my squad.

  2. Experiencing a new country and culture and the lessons they will teach me.

  3. This move brings me closer to going home (I am pretty homesick…LOL!).

Update: We are confirmed to return to the US on May 21st for debriefing in Gainesville, GA, and I will finally be able to sleep in my own bed on May 29th…oh happy day! 🙂

One last thing…as we do daily ministry, we encounter incidental expenses that are not covered under the official fundraising amount for the program. If you would like to continue to support financially, you can do so in the following ways:

Venmo: https://venmo.com/u/Via2022

CashApp: https://cash.app/$Via2022

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and encouragement. I can’t wait to share all the wonderful things God will continue in and through us!
