College or Gap Year? That was the choice. In my parents’ minds, it was a no-brainer…college, of course! But God had different plans…I felt like God was calling me to do something/go somewhere, but I knew for sure it wasn’t college…at least not yet. For those of you who don’t know me…Hello, my name is Olivia Occilien-Similien (Via for short!). I am a high school student who dreams about traveling to remote places of the world to spread the good news of the gospel.
By God’s grace, this yearning in my heart has become a reality. I applied for and was accepted into a program called World Race Gap Year that I will be attending after graduation. World Race Gap Year is a program that sends young adults like me to three different countries over nine months. This Gap Year is more than a 9-month long mission trip. It’s an opportunity to grow with God and discover my calling, create my own path, go deeper with God than I ever imagined possible.
But I can’t do this alone. I need your help.
